The park is well and truly open for business – Jurassic world, the much anticipated continuation of the lucrative franchise, took in an astonishing $82.8 million on Friday, making it the third best opening day of all time, just behind Avengers: Age of Ultron and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.
Starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, Jurassic World outperformed all forecasts and, if it continues to pull in the masses, could see the blockbuster gross as much as $200 million in its opening weekend in the US – enevitably knocking Age of Ultron ($191.2M) from the second spot.
Jurassic World, which sees John Hammond’s (Sir Richard Attenborough) vision of a dinosaur theme park finally come to life, is likely to smash international box-office records when the weekends final numbers come in.
